Description

Located in the heart of Chamonix, this hotel has plenty of history behind it. The hotel is named after a British lady, Isabella Straton, who broke boundaries exploring the Alps in the Victorian era with her husband who was a local guide. Her grandchildren opened this hotel and its name still survives.

The hotel displays wallpaper and carpet designed in Isabella’s honour, with a modern, contemporary style. The fantastic location in the centre of Chamonix will appeal to those interested in the culture and activities of Chamonix and keen walkers. The bar/bistro where dinner is taken offers traditional fare with a modern twist and some British and Scandinavian favourites! The sunny terrace adjoining the bar is one of Chamonix’s favourite spots for enjoying the mountain scenery and soaking up the resort atmosphere.

Ski Resort Description

Chamonix

With 90% of the terrain above 2000m, Chamonix has for many years attracted skiers looking for good snow and who also want to ski the famous Vallée Blanche - or tackle the rest of the extensive off-piste skiing. There is an efficient ski bus which links the five main ski areas with our accommodation in Chamonix and the nearby village of Les Houches. Set against truly spectacular scenery at the foot of the majestic Mont Blanc, the resort's setting is both unique and breathtaking. Chamonix offers an excellent range of sporting and leisure facilities with an unrivaled nightlife whilst Les Houches is quieter but full of Alpine charm. The choice of skiing is amazing, from cruisy blues and fun reds at Le Brevent, Flegere and Le Tour to more challenging runs at Les Grands Montets. Beginners start off in Chamonix or the nearby pretty village of Les Houches.
