Right on the border of France, Courmayeur's one of the classiest ski resorts in Italy. It's positioned at the foot of Europe's highest mountain, Mont Blanc. Lot's of people flock here for it's mixed piste levels, fantastic snow conditions and intimate ski area. Other's can't get enough of the big-mountain scenery - there's nothing nicer than sitting in a mountain café on a bluebird day and soaking up some rays.
Look out for snow-sport champions - the resort attracts top skiers and snowboarders from all over the world. The stunning views, powdery snow and endless choice of off-piste draws them in year after year. The Vallée Blanche is unmissable; starting at one of the most famous off-piste areas in Europe and taking you through a glacier. This is a good one to do with a guide as they'll show you all the best routes.
Another brilliant perk of skiing here is the six-day lift pass which lets you do two days skiing in another nearby resort. La Thuile and La Rosiere are popular places to go (there's a bus that'll take you to these nearby towns, or you could take the Monte Bianco Skyway). You can't miss the Monte Bianco Skyway, a cable-car reaching up to 3,466 metres. How many people can say they've travelled over the clouds?
With all the things to do in Courmayeur, you'll definitely be needing a drink and some hearty food throughout the day. The village has a great reputation for bars and restaurants. You're bound to find the perfect place to re-convene and chat about your day on the slopes.
This is definitely one for the bucket list!
